MasterCraft
MasterCraft, based in Tennessee, is a US manufacturer of recreational boats, established in 1968. The company was founded when the future owners decided to start building their own ski boats. They made their first ski boat in 1968 in Maryville, Tennessee. During the first year, the would only built 12 boats, but eventually, as years passed and they evolved in their work, MasterCraft became recognized as a real force in ski boat tournaments.
The production had to be increased so the manufacturing facility was moved to its current location – Vonore, Tennessee, and nowadays, MasterCraft employs 591 people. The key people in the organization are John Dorton – President & CEO and Scott Crutchfield – Vice President. Since 2006, MasterCraft has been producing over 3,000 boats per year, that are sold in 25 different countries by more than 100 domestic and international dealers, making it the largest manufacturer of wakeboard, inboard ski, and luxury performance boats in the world.
MasterCraft produces a large variety of different boats, but some of the most popular ones are those from the Prostar series, which are basically direct drive ski boats. The X-Series Wakeboard boats are also quite popular and they share the same hulls with the Prostar series, but are equipped with features specifically designed for wakeboarding, like the ballast tanks and a wakeboard tower. All MasterCraft boats are powered by a General Motors 5.7, 6.0, and 8.1 liter V8 engine blocks.
For over 40 years now, MasterCraft has been focusing on giving the highest possible customer satisfaction to its owners. As a result of all their efforts, in 2008, the company received the prestigious J.D. Power and Associates Award for “Highest in Customer Satisfaction with Ski and Wakeboard Boats in a Tie”. In 2007, APICS named MasterCraft “Manufacturer of the Year”, explaining that MasterCraft’s lean manufacturing implementation is the best and provides supreme product quality and customer service.
MasterCraft focuses on quality and innovation and those are the two key components which make the company so special and different compared to the its competition. Their goal has always been simple – to build a better boat and manufacture the most innovative and reliable water sports boats in the world. You will find these features in all aspects of their product line. The style of their boats is unmistakable and incomparable. Every carve is carefully grooved, every corner is softened and all the components look as if the are in motion even though they are perfectly still.
